When
Saturday 17 October, 7 pm to midnight. Come for the 6:12 sunset; the string lights go on at 6:30.
๐ House party · Saturday 17 October
Sunset to skyline on the roof at 9 Foundry Street, before the cold comes for good. Four sets, a taco table, twelve blankets, and a silent disco after eleven because we like our neighbours.
The plan
Doors on the roof open at 7, but the real show is the 6:12 sunset, so earlier is better. Here is the shape of the night.
Saturday 17 October, 7 pm to midnight. Come for the 6:12 sunset; the string lights go on at 6:30.
The roof at 9 Foundry Street, apt 4C. Buzz 4C, then take the stairs. All of them.
Three DJ sets, a request box, tacos off the grill from 7:30, and a silent disco from 11 to midnight.
BYOB and something to share. Claim an item on the bring-sheet so we do not end up with nine bags of chips.
Saturday forecast
Dry and calm, with a breeze at the ledge after ten. Forecast refreshed Tuesday morning; we will update this page if it turns.
The sun is still on the roof until 6:12. Warm for October, so a light jacket does it.
Set times
Music starts at 7 on the dot. Slide through the night to see who is on and when.
Doors are open and Marcus is warming up the roof.
Sunset warm-up · 7:00 to 8:30 pm
Soul, disco edits and a little bossa nova while the sky turns. Marcus has been planning this set since August, mostly in the shower.
Skyline house · 8:30 to 10:00 pm
Four-on-the-floor at 122 BPM, built for the hour when the city lights come up. Tala runs Saturdays at a basement club two stops away.
Last-call singalongs · 10:00 to 11:00 pm
Early-2000s R&B and pop you will absolutely know the words to. Whatever tops the request queue gets played first.
Headphone hour · 11:00 pm to midnight
Speakers off, wireless headphones on: 24 pairs, three channels (pink, violet, orange). Same party, zero noise complaints.
โน๏ธ One vote per song. The hosts keep a veto on anything already played twice.
Bring-sheet
Tap I'll bring it on anything still open. Your picks are saved for this session and show up next to your name on the guest list.
The tacos are on us. The rest is on you.
BYOB, and one bottle each for the table.
The boring things that make the night work.
Tacos al pastor and veggie tinga with rice and beans, a grill, 40 cups and a recycling bin, twelve blankets, the string lights, speakers, turntables and 24 silent-disco headphones.

House rules
Seven other flats live in this building and two of them have babies. Be the guest they would invite back.
Speakers go off at 11 sharp and the last hour is a silent disco on headphones. Keep it low in the stairwell, too: it carries.
Five flights to the roof and no elevator on that route. Hold the rail, take your time, and tell Dee if stairs are a problem.
Stay behind the low wall. No glass within six feet of the edge: cans and the plastic cups in the bin only.
The string lights are LED and the roof is tar. Smokers have the Pike Street side door, two minutes away.
Blue bin for cans and bottles, black for everything else. There are bags by the roof door and a cleanup crew at midnight.
Buzz and wait. If the door is open when you arrive, close it behind you. Everyone who lives here has a key.
Getting in
Four steps from the sidewalk to the sky. Allow ten minutes the first time, five if you have done stairs before.
No. 9 sits between the laundromat and Pike’s Bakery. A bike with a flat tyre chained to the railing means you are in the right place.
The panel is on the left. Hold the button for a full second: it is old. No answer? Text or call Dee on 555-0142.
Stairs only: five flights up to the roof door. The elevator stops at 4 and the roof is not on its route. Save the singing for the top.
It is propped open with a brick. The roof is gravel, so flats beat heels. Coats go on the pegs to the left.
RSVP
Reply by Wednesday 14 October so Dee can order the right number of pizzas.
Questions
Still stuck? Call or text 555-0142 and she will answer between the grocery run and the stairs.
Then it becomes an indoor party in apt 4C and the fourth-floor hallway, with the same sets and the same tacos. We will message the Roof Crew chat by 4 pm on Saturday, and we only call it for rain or lightning. Right now the chance is 5%.
Yes, one, please. Add them on the RSVP form so we can count blankets and tacos. A bigger group? Message Dee first: the roof tops out at 40 people.
Adults only, sorry: the ledge is low and the night runs late. Calm dogs are welcome before 9 pm if you tell us in advance, but the stairs are long and the gravel is hard on paws.
Honestly, not very: it is five flights of stairs and no elevator to the roof. If that is a problem, tell Dee. We will put a seat by the window in 4C, which has an almost-as-good skyline view, and a speaker on the same set list.
The last bus (14) leaves Foundry & 3rd at 12:40 am and the last Mercer Street train is at 1:20. Rideshares pick up on Pike Street, which is quieter than the front door. Please do not drive if you have been drinking; the couch in 4C is real.
It is free. Please bring a drink and claim something on the bring-sheet. At 9 pm two people collect four pizzas from the place on Pike; we split the bill, about $8 a head if you are eating.
A silent disco. At 11 the speakers go off and 24 wireless headphones come out, on three channels you can switch between: pink for house, violet for pop, orange for whatever Marcus feels like. First come, first headphoned; the rest can dance to the quiet.

P.S. If you read all the way down here: yes, there will be a shared playlist afterwards, and yes, it is far too long.
